Edge of the town of Huescar in Granada
Area Information If you would like to live to an area which at the moment is thankfully more locals than ex pats, this is the place to be.
When we came here 5 yrs ago we were the first people to buy in the area. It was like this for almost a year, since then more people have come to realize that its wonderful place
to settle.
One of the most important reasons for us choosing to come here was that Huescar in on a high plateau, surrounded by mountain ranges but 90% of it is flat and so ideal for
people who have problems with mobility.
Unlike coastal areas crime is not high, we do not even have to have the normal iron grilles on the doors, the ones covering the windows are more for decoration than protection.
It is quite safe for women and children to be outside when it is dark, in fact where the house is placed its on the main route up to one of the highest mountains in Spain, La Sagre and most of the locals take a walk up the road both in the morning and late at night, some pushing children past the window at well after midnight.
People here look out for each other,if they see someone they do not recognize, they make it known that they are being watched. Its the same with the children, when they get to know you they are respectful to you if you ask them to stop doing something or other.
This bungalow set on the very edge of the town of Huescar in Granada has been lovingly made into a very comfortable home with all of the things we as Brits come to expect.
It was an empty shell when we bought it 5 years ago and since have installed double glazing, central oil-fired heating and some fitted carpets laid over tiles floors.
Its been done with good quality materials and many, many arguments with local builders, to have it done the way we wanted it and not as its *normally* done.
If you are tired of living on the coast or looking to make a change in your life style and leave the UK, then you could do a lot worse than move to live here. The area is full of natural beauty spots and history. I will add some information, further into the book, but for the moment I will give brief details and photos of the property.

The property comes ready to move into, all you have to buy is your beds, we are leaving most of the very expensive furniture including the leather sofa and leather chair in the lounge. Also all white goods, garden furniture and much much more, so if you consider the amount you will save by firstly not having to purchase the items, or the transporting of them you will see that the price we are willing to accept is more than fair.
